In July a group from the Rowing Club Argentina (RCA) visited DSPC and were hosted by club members and taken for a three-day row on the Thames. In November a group from DSPC went to Buenos Aires on a return visit.

We had landed at various times, but by Saturday afternoon we were all at the RCA clubhouse in Tigre to get acquainted with the boats and conditions prior to taking part in the regatta the next day.

The clubhouse, on the bank of the River Luchan, was one of fourteen similar ones in Tigre, northwest of Buenos Aires. Like the others, the RCA clubhouse was grand, large and ornate, the boathouse was massive, the launching hard was wide and the boats were beautiful. Slim, coxed singles, built of polished mahogany with sliding seats and short outriggers. The sun shone and the wash was horrendous!

The conditions proved to be rougher than we were used to!
