Social at Dittons Skiff and Punting Club
What a Summer Fun Day! Fun was had by all The sun was shining The day started with Bridge to Bridge and Bacon sandwiches. Skiffing, punting, canoeing, water jousting, swimming and having a go on the Coracles entertained people all day and go the interest of many people, including people coming across from the Albany, passers by on foot on the riverbank and passing boats. Thanks goes out to many club members here for taking people out on the river, however special thanks to Natalie for getting the water events under way and Claire and Ivan for their dedicated work on the safety boat. Meanwhile the hog turned. Thanks has to go to Malcolm and Ruth for making this such a success. The Bar was busy all day, as the members and guests consumed vast quantities of wine and beer as well as the Pimms and Punch. Thanks to David, Miranda, Simon and Julia and many others. Guests came from Yorkshire, Croydon, Reading, Australia, Cardiff, and all over London and Surrey. Many enjoyed a BBQ'd sausage lunch, thank you to Ian for standing over a hot stove on such a hot day! Then the cake competition was held, with some fantastic entries, well done to all those who took part, Christine and Mary had a difficult task choosing a winner there! Then they worked off their tasting calories by working hard in the kitchen on a hot afternoon serving teas and cake, whilst running the raffle. The Hog was then served which was truly outstanding. Boating and swimming then re commenced until about 20:00 when the very patient Barn Dance caller started the first of many excellent dances. As with all such events there were some very dedicated club members doing “stuff” so again thank you to all of you.
